Reasons Why People Cheat in Relationships
Honesty is the best policy. It may be an old idiomatic expression and perhaps, you have heard it and said it a thousand times. In all aspects of life, ‘honesty’ is always very important. In a relationship, ‘honestly’ is always one factor for a relationship to be successful.
However, there are so many relationships that don’t have a happy ending because there is always one party who lies. So, what are the reasons why people cheat in relationships?
Here are some reasons:
1. Lack of self-acceptance
According to a psychologist, one of the roots of dishonesty is lack of self-acceptance. For example, a person promised someone that he will be faithful to her but then eventually looks for another woman to find satisfaction. In this case, the reason of dishonesty is because the guy lack self-acceptance. There is a part of him who believes that he should promise faithfulness to someone to have her love and an opposing part of him wants to satisfy his urge to look for something else.
2. That is how they were brought up.
Another reason why a person cheats, is that dishonesty roots from his childhood. It is possible that during childhood a person’s parents also lie. And so, a kid will grow up thinking that it is okay to be dishonest. Eventually, the kid will grow up and will not bother being honest to anyone else.
3. Peer Pressure
If a person is being pressured by his friends to commit dishonesty, the tendency is, he will eventually give in. For example, if a guy have some friends who also cheat, this guy might soon cheat his girlfriend. It could be that his friends pressure him to do so.
Well, there are so many other reasons why a person becomes dishonest in a relationship. However, regardless what the reason is, there is no excuse that a person cheats in a relationship. No matter what, such act can create a damage in the other person. Indeed, ‘honestly is always the best policy’. And remember, if you want to be happy then be honest.
